One of the rising stars of Whisky, Wire Works' lightly peated fruity spirit is as captivating as the tactile bespoke glass it comes in.
Expect a lightly-peated single malt whisky with whispers of smoke meeting a fruit forward profile filled with banana bread, candied citrus and creamy vanilla.
This release is made using a combination of malt aged in American and French oak, with a majority of the casks shaved, toasted and re-charred after previously containing bourbon. The blend of casks selected is intended to showcase the house style.
Having left behind their finance and teaching careers in London, White Peak was founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Max and Claire Vaughan. The distillery's core style is a blend of non-peated and lightly peated spirit.
The distillery is based on the banks of the River Derwent, Derbyshire. It's housed in a refurbished former Johnson & Nephew Wire Works which had operated for 120 years until its closure in the mid-1990s (thus the whisky's name).
