Description

Cellar for 10 years. It definitely needs some decanting. Chateau de Purcari was founded in 1827, on the former lands of the Afono-Zagraf monastery, by French Betier and the German Harmizone following the French style of Bordeaux cellars and immediately obtaining the status of the first winery of Bessarabia (the southern part of the Moldovan territory) by the then Tsar of Russia Nicholas I. It was in 2003 that the arrival of new Investments and French technologies and the return to quality production opened a new course for this historic winery. Today the estate covers 250 hectares that make up the semi-hilly landscape that slopes down to the Dniester River and the Ukrainian border. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has a huge personality and opulent style. In the glass, it shows a medium ruby color with bright reflections. The nose is an explosion of sweet aromas of black currant, plums, and cranberry jam, with some delicate spicy notes coming from the 9 months of maturation in French oak barriques. In the mouth, it is full, bold, and expressive with flavors of overripe cherries and dark chocolate. It’s a big wine that can benefit from some time in the cellar but can also be enjoyed with roast meat such as beef or lamb.
