Dominio del Aguila Picaro Vinas Viejas 2020 from 8wines
Cellar up to 5-6 years. No need to decant. Dominio del Aguila covers 30 hectares of old vines, located in La Aguilera, Ribera del Duero. Its birth dates back to 2010, when Jorge Monzon and his wife Isabel Rodero decided to undertake this project to realize their personal dream of producing unique wines. Currently, their wines are recognized for their enormous quality and for their high scores awarded by critics. Pícaro del Águila comes from 75-year-old organic vineyards, located at 860 m altitude, on north-facing slopes in the valley of the Gromejón River, characterized by red clay soils with pebbles. Tempranillo predominates the blend, although other red and white varieties such as Garnacha, Bobal, or Blanca del Pais are also used. Fermentation is carried out in cement tanks and the wine is neither clarified nor filtered. Before bottling, the wine is left for 13 months in oak barrels French. Its beautiful ruby color has violet reflections. The nose has a delicious scent of red and black fruits such as raspberry, currant, and blueberries, accompanied by suggestive floral notes such as violet and a slight spicy touch reminiscent of cloves and vanilla. In the mouth, it shows a soft and agile texture. It is round and balanced with friendly tannins and intense aromas of berries and sweet spices. It is a very fine red with a good load of fruit and a long finish. The ideal partner for grilled red meats and roast lamb.
