Drink it now or cellar it for 3-5 years. No need to decant. Duval-Leroy is one of the last great independent and family houses in Champagne. Created in Vertus by the union of the Duval and Leroy families, the brand celebrated its 160th birthday in 2019. At the helm, since her husband’s death in 1991, is Carol Duval-Leroy, one of the most active and innovative women of Champagne and the first and only woman named president of the Champenoise Viticultural Association. She now can count on the help of her children, Louis, Julien and Charles. The Rosé Prestige Premier Cru from Maison Duval-Leroy comes exclusively from Grands Crus and Premiers Crus vineyards with 35 to 45 years old vines. Vinified by maceration, the Pinots Noir from Montagne de Reims are blended with the Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs and some Pinot Meunier in order to gain in complexity, finesse and elegance. The dosage of this cuvée is around 9 g/litre. Pink, intense and deep, this Champagne has a fine and abundant effervescence. The nose shows subtle notes of wild cherries, red fruits, and figs. On the palate, it reveals delicious fruity aromas and it’s structured, elegant, and tasty. It goes well with poultry and salmon, but the best match is a red tuna tartare. Serve it between 8 and 10°C.
